Long-distance move from Orlando, FL to Houston, TX

Most terrible moving experience, ever!!

I’ve moved more than 10 times in my life. This was a horrible experience. They destroyed family heirlooms that are invaluable to me. They cannot be fixed. Liars, cheaters, arrogant, basically punks! They won’t honor my claim! I’ve lost memories that can never be recovered. Put a price on that!! Don’t do business with these shysters. You will regret it!

Amazing service.

I am incredibly happy with my service from Route 66 moving and storage they were courteous and professional the entire move. Ryan the sales manager did a perfect inventory and everything went according to plan. Normally I do not write reviews but this time I had to because I really did not have faith in a moving company but I had no choice but to work with one. The foreman packed everything bubble wrap dish packed TV crates and more. If you were looking for a professional moving company to work with I would choose this company. After doing heavy research I found out route 66 was the most capable to handle my move and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Thank you Ryan!

Horrible Scammers.

This was the worst moving experience I have ever had. I was moving back to NY from Miami Nov 29, 2019. Over the phone I was promised this company would pack my belongings including my mattress and TVs with protective covering and packing materials. They provided none of that. They almost forgot two whole draws worth of items in my apartment, thankfully I double checked. They had my fragiles placed on top of each other because they could not wrap them. Then the first person who booked my reservation forgot to add me to the roster for the day because he put the wrong day on the contract. He stopped answering his direct number after he took my first payment. After I was moved into the truck the movers demanded $500 more than the agreed upon rate for extra space in the truck. He did not pack my things tightly on purpose. Come to find out they repack my items at a warehouse tightly between Miami and NY. I spoke to a supervisor and then was not required to pay. Then upon arrival in NY they took the covering off my TVs and sofa so they are now exposed in my storage unit. I was promised they would let me keep it. I should've just rented a UHaul and packed my own items never again. I almost had to overstay my lease due to the date mix up by Chris Anderson.

Long-distance move from Miami Beach, FL to Louisville, KY

The worst moving experience.

Think about how it feels to be lied too. They gave us an awesome quote with a $1,032 discount added. We were excited to not have to pack up our goods, move, or drive them all the way from Miami, FL to Louisville, KY with an 8m/o and two cats. To find out When they came to our one bedroom apartment 1st thing that was said is that there is not enough space in the quote for all your belongings. So With the estimate of $1452 with the discount applied to that total, We thought What a good deal! Should of known this was a scam. They cannot move Murphy Beds. We had to throw away a dumpster’s worth of clothes, towels, items, you name it, and gave away a room divider, our bed, vacuum, and dishes. A ton of stuff that wouldn’t fit but that doesn’t even begin to describe the fury I feel with this moving company. To have an extra 125 cubic square feet added to the space in our truck it was a total of $1100! They lied to us over the phone and barely packed anything! Too worried about getting signatures so they are not liable to get us the important stuff they have stolen from us. They made us pay a ticket their movers received (all while the movers said “the company got this, they are the ones with all the money”) as soon As we paid that to have an understanding of where our stuff is and when it will be here they hung up and won’t return any of my calls. Please save yourself sleepless nights a find a REAL PROFESSIONAL/RESPECTABLE MOVING COMPANY.

Route 66 Movers out of Miami Florida.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST!! Stay far far away from this company. Horrible customer service, almost double the price of moving on the day of, simple dumped drawers into boxes (we paid for white glove service). No packing in between plates. Massive amount of damage to so many items. Their claims cover .60 cents per lb. So a 25.00 china plate you simple get .10 cents!! The delivery was late. They threw broken pieces of items into the bushes to hide the damage.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!

This was a nightmare!!!! They are not professional and will break your items. Nothing was wrapped. Everything was literally thrown in boxes. Clothes in wardrobe boxes are just piled on top of each other. Not on a hanging bar like you would expect. Trying to get our items delivered was when I felt like I had been scammed. No one answered the phone or emailed back. Only after putting in a bbb complaint did they get back to me to schedule delivery. Some how they turned it around on me. They will not deliver on your requested day and make it clear it’s just a request. The delivery mover only had 75% of our household items and it was delivered 8 days later than requested. I was told to put in a claim. We were missing our expensive king mattress and tools and tons of other things. How do you load a truck without cross referencing the inventory sheet? They never even looked at it. After weeks we finally were emailed that another crate was located and they would let us know when they would deliver. 45 days after our scheduled move we got most of our missing items. The mattress is damaged and other sturdy items are cracked. Everything looks like it went through a storm. This company does not care about the customer. I have moved tons of times and never experienced a nightmare like this. Amateurs at best. I wish I read these reviews first.

Long-distance move from Bagdad, FL to Atlantic City, NJ

Had terrible experience!!

The moving truck hit my neighbor's car. Defenitley not a good way to meet the neighbors. I was still charged for the full price ( even though they were talking to neighbor and police for part of it). The quote was significantly off from what we were charged (lots of hidden charges for "packing" even though we prepacked everything. They charge a crazy amount for tape and wrapping they did of one TV and dressers that I didn't realize you could get charged for them using tape on a dresser ? They did not inform or ask us if we wanted to use there tape for the one item we had plenty of tape". Took way longer then expected almost all day for 2 bedrooms worth of furniture, dining room (buffet and table), 1 couch and 2 chairs. Additionally they put a hole in my wall carrying the couch in and scratched the floors. The claim process is difficult as well and can not be done electronically yet they require pictures. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE ! You will be charged significantly more then quote.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Denver, CO

The company is the definition of fraud.

DO. NOT. WORK. WITH. THIS. COMPANY.

We hired Route 66 to move my daughters belongings from Austin to Denver. They seemed reputable and flexible.. until we signed the contact. Since then, I’ve experienced nothing but fraudulent and formidable business practices. To even call this “service” a business would be an outlandish designation.

Despite signing the contact for a specific moving date, they repeatedly tried to move it. I spoke to at least a handful of people over the course of a week and no one would give me a concrete answer or any reliable assurance.

Somehow they showed up on the right date. While moving her belongings out from the apartment went relatively smoothly, we received concerning and inappropriate calls from the dispatcher who wanted to discuss his feelings towards us.

It’s now been a week since they picked up her stuff and it’s nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone to get a delivery status update or confirmation. On the rare occasion that someone answers the phone, they have been unable and unwilling to provide any useful information regarding the whereabouts of her belongings and the delivery.

No one is answering our calls or returning our numerous messages. We have been left with no other option than to report them to the FTC and BBB. We will also be hiring an attorney and pursuing legal action.

Long-distance move from Gainesville, FL to Valley, AL

Moving experience.

I am a customer who signed a moving contract in April and used the moving on May 10th. My house was a two-bedroom condo and the first person in charge was 1200 cf and gave me an estimate of $3,200. I was burdened with this price, but I signed a contract because it was my first time to move to another state, but it was strange that I had to pay one-third of the total estimate as a down payment, which was unusual, but I couldn't because I was a customer. However, people who came to pack said that we had to pay extra because we had a lot of luggage. And he said that we had to pay an extra $3284 because our luggage went over 490 cf. I was dumbfounded but threatened that the truck driver would turn if you didn't pay the surcharge and that I wouldn't have to pay the surcharge. But the truck driver who said he was close didn't come and arrived a day later than he promised. I left at such a huge cost, but it was only after I broke the date I promised to arrive three times. They demanded an additional 1,100 dollars, saying that the 16-wheel truck could not reach the destination, so they had to shuttle to a small truck and pay separately for the 38 stairs. I've gone mad. The initial estimate of $3,200 came to a final $7,600. More to the point of view, the three-tier drawer did not arrive among the luggage. It contained supplies and other consumables, but no matter how much I contacted them, no one responded, no one answered me, no one answered me. I'd like to give this company minus five stars if I could. If you are considering a board member, we recommend that you never choose this company.

ROUTE66 is a scam moving company.

After jacking us up for 25% over their so called binding estimate the company picked up and stored our possessions in their warehouse while they searched for a driver to deliver them to our new home in Las Vegas. What they promise you has nothing to do with their contract. They are the worst kind of used car salesmen selling themselves as a moving company. Do not do business with them. We are now buying survival home furnishings while we wait weeks more for our possessions. Who can afford that. They are crooks.

Do not use this moving company they are liars and scammers. They hold your property hostage , put you on hold when you call and are rude as hell plus if someone actually talks to you its lies. Warning Warning Warning.

They severely damaged one of our TVs, a wooden bookshelf, handmade wooden wall shelves made by my husband’s late grandfather, a cedar chest, and a painting. They also ruined our mattress. They had not wrapped it or done anything to protect it. We had our items delivered to a storage unit, so who know what else is missing or damaged that we have not been able to get to yet. Worst Moving Company Thieves & Thugs- Beware.

BEWARE OF THE GREAT REVIEWS, OBVIOUSLY NOT TRUE.

Contracted with route66 for $3900.00. Paid the first third and awaited the move. The day of the move is when the Thugs arrived and the contracted amount was upcharged $2100.00 more. No one at the business avail to contact. Must move out as we just closed and the buyers are moving in. Loadout after upcharge now goes ok but the delivery now becomes the nightmare. Customer service is just avail to placate the noisy customer with no information when called. You a literally at their mercy and believe me- they are not merciful. Not delivered on time. The guy in a Ryder truck shows up at 7:30PM and now you must argue not to pay them upfront for delivery and not to have to sign a blank delivery form. We are missing most of our most fragile and expensive things. Boxes upon boxes of our things that we must now try to replace. My wife carefully packed our fragile belongings to insure their safety and now they are probably sitting in some thieves house. So much was damaged upon close inspection. Our mistake has been made but yours hopefully can be averted. Our belongings are gone but yours don't have to be if you listen to our terrible tale. They are robbers who should be behind bars.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good:

1. Anton in sales is super professional, polite and helpful. He was the best part of the experience.

2. They are flexible on changing move days. We had to change ours due to construction issues a couple times and they were very accommodating.

3. The 3 movers, especially the foreman mover was also very polite and professional in his manner. Everybody was nice and that made the process much easier to handle while things were going bad.

The Bad:

1. It was explained to me by the foreman that they were trying out a new guy who was his cousin. It was his cousin's first day ever moving. He had zero experience. He wasn't aware, as if no one had explained to him how to handle people's furniture to make sure it wasn't damaged. He was also very overweight. He couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without having to rest, he moved slow the entire day. His fatigue made him lazy, which made him careless, which caused him to damage our furniture, aside from his lack of experience and understanding of how to care for people's furniture. Does management vet employees before they start? Is there any training program?

2. The 28 foot truck was too small and my wife and I had to move the last bit over two days and 8 pick up truck loads.

3. There were not enough people there to help box up our belongings and they seemed stressed when they realized we wanted some help in boxing.

The Ugly:

1. We have a lot of antique mid century furniture, not replaceable. I specifically asked one mover to put cardboard on the mirror and wrap the whole mirror in a blanket. I later see the mirror leaning against the truck, unwrapped, and sitting on fresh asphalt with rocks digging into the wood. I asked the mover why he didn't wrap it and he said, he had to use the restroom before he wrapped it and another mover grabbed it and took it without him knowing. This is just poor communication and systems between the movers. Scratched and dented a $500 mirror.

2. We have a bed that is tufted leather. I came to the truck to see the overweight worker using the side board to rest himself on with the leather just grinding into the asphalt without any covering on it. Scratched and discolored

3. 3 piece living room set, the love seat fabric is torn.

4. Daughters bedroom set, has these wooden storage cubes..none of them got wrapped in moving blankets..Extremely scratched up.

In summary, this didn't feel like professional movers. It felt amateur and under prepared. I told the foreman I didn't want to pay for all the hours for the mover who couldn't move all that well, so I paid I think half price for that one person.

The business got back to me and offered $0.60/pound of damaged goods.

Mirror Value $500, weight 25lb = $15.00 insurance coverage.

Couch Value $1600, weight 350lb = $210 insurance coverage.

As you can see this coverage is pennies for what your property is worth. Don't make the same mistake and go with a professional company that vets their employees and does training before their first day on the job.

Zero Stars - do Not Hire.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! I have no idea how they have so many positive reviews. I think they subcontract longer, out of state moves. They moved belongings from FL to my storage warehouse in Philadelphia. We paid for "white glove" service, which was a scam. They packed up several pictures and just threw them in a box, no bubble wrap. Everything showed up completely smashed, boxes are missing (and still are), and they ruined a family heirloom of ours, a dollhouse that my grandfather made. Once they get your money, they are completely unresponsive to any issues. BEWARE!!

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to San Antonio, TX

They ask for wire transfer - do not use!

Its a week before my move - 5 days - the alloted time for a cancellation - and I receive an email stating that they only way to pay the 50% due at pickup is via a wire transfer or cash or Zelle. No debit card or credit card. When I talked to my customer service rep (Gerard)prior to signing, I asked and he stated I could pay with a card. The deposit was allowed to be paid via a CC with Docusign. But thats it...

When I called for clarification, I spoke to a manager(Kevin) and he told me he had to hang up because the call was too long... Actually, first he told me first that no moving company would take a CC! Then he told me the exact IP address that the contract was signed with... CREEPY...

About that 5 days cancellation time frame - my move was scheduled for a Wednesday. My pack day was scheduled for Tuesday. Contract specifically states the move date - not the pack date. In addition, they decided to count the pack day even though they could not tell me the actual date they would arrive at my house until 24 hours prior to the arrival... So unless you are available to sit around for 3 three days (you have to have a 3 day window of availability), then this is probably not the best company to go with- well its just not the best company AT ALL.

Oh back to that email I received on Friday - it included an account number, a wire routing number, and an email for Zelle. Or I could just hand over $2700 cash AFTER my house hold items were loaded on the truck!

They must think I'm stupid.

It truly was Friday the 13th!!!

I tried to cancel - and guess what - they blocked my number... mine, my work, and my husband's...

I received an email asking what to do - literally one sentance and I have yet to hear back. So, i lost out on $1800...

DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE BY HIRING THESE PEOPLE...

Oh - last thought - I googled the address - go to the street view... no moving trucks, but look at the sign... Gentleman's Club? I could be wrong...

Not Trustworthy

II had the misfortune of using this company early this year to move out of state. Roland is good at convincing you that all fees/prices are upfront and that an in person quote is not necessary. I was skeptical therefore I sent him pictures of my furniture. He stated I had nothing to worry about but upped the price some. On moving day, two men show up and it takes them more than 4 hrs to load up the contents of my tiny 1 bedroom apt. All because they failed to bring a screwdriver for the door and the legs of my couch. My niece & I ended up having to help them. Once everything is on the truck... surprise! It's taking up more space then quoted, so now it's some $550+ more! Delivery was late. They DON'T own their own trucks (Roland lied), they subcontract. Upon delivery, the mover had to unload and put my couch's legs on by himself (took him about 2 hrs total) and informs me my couch arrived broken beyond repair. Turns out my stuff has been loaded & reloaded several times into different trucks along the way. Their claims process is a total joke! He also tells me that he sees no reason why I was charged the extra $550+. It's taken me until now to give my review bc I avoid thinking about this horrible company. Save yourself the trouble and money and use a small, trustworthy company.

Move from west palm beach Fl to Boston Ma

Wanted to share my experience with all customers, please go to another company. This has been a very horrible experience that we've paid a lot of money for. Salesman is well trained, but movers are subcontractors n they do not bring any help so we've been the 2nd set of hands each time. There is no such thing as white gloves service n they pack very poorly. It took an extra week to receive my delivery in BOS and many items were broken n damaged due to mishandling. My armoire n nightstand is busted from the back, picture frames broken, a whole hamper of personal items n toiletries are missing....sounds like it will never be found either. I hope our claim will be handled appropriately, but who knows at this point. I really wished we had done it all ourselves instead. Their phone service is pretty good but nothing else. If u value you stuff, don't use this company at all.

Long-distance move from Riverview, FL to Hendersonville, NC

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

*****Do NOT use this company.***** 1) They under quote the amount of cubic feet your move will require. We did the inventory list over-the-phone and were quoted 950 cu ft. A hefty discount was applied so that our move from FL to NC was only going to cost approx. $2,800. This is a great price, right? So we paid the deposit and I gave a 3 day window for pickup. As we got down to our final pack I did some more detailed calculations and realized we would need a lot more space. The day before the move I called the sales rep to adjust it. The previous discounts (of course) didn't apply to our overall price per cubic foot and were only due to us being flexible in our move date etc. New price for 1200 cu ft. was a little over $4,200 paying the full 5.50 per cu ft. We'd forfeit our deposit by canceling so we pressed on. The only accurate part of the move was the pickup date. They arrived the 1st day of the 3 day window and started with the paperwork. They literally have you sign off on two quotes--the one done with the sales rep and then they mark the truck with additional "lines" and if your stuff goes over the original cu ft line then the second quote states you're agreeing to pay for the additional space. So our second quote was about $2,000 more for 2 additional "lines" in the truck. They did pack tight, but we still ended up going over on our 1200 cu ft. We have a very tight budget and couldn't pay more, so we made the decision to not move a bed, some lamps, a ladder, an office chair etc. The guy told my husband we were better than most at throwing stuff away. When it comes down to move day most people want their stuff and pay for the extra space. Clearly this was routine for them. 2 ) Your stuff may go through multiple moves before reaching you. The truck they pick up your stuff in is not the final delivery truck. Your goods go to a warehouse or get transfered to a semi before being delivered. So they could potentially go through several moves. We had minor "dings" only, but don't be surprised if it's much worse. The built in insurance only goes by weight, so there's very little incentive to protect your stuff. Thankfully we put tvs and as much fragile stuff into our car as possible. 3) The anticipated delivery date is not accurate. We were told at the quoting stage and pickup date that it would take 2-6 days. It ended up being 9, which isn't terrible, but looking back on paperwork they filled in 30 days as the anticipated date. It just depends on how long it takes for them to accumulate enough stuff to fill a semi. 4) So by day 7 of no delivery I started googling furiously about this company and discovered and became prepared for the next hurdle we would experience. I was asked about the final destination at quote time--stairs, elevators, gate code, single family home vs. apartment etc. but no one asked me, can a 18 wheeler make it to your new house? That small truck they picked up in gets transferred to the semi and THAT is what has to fit into your final destination. We got a call from the driver about 4 hours before the truck arrived. He did not ask me about access either, but I quickly asked "how big is the truck you're driving?" "Do you think you can make the turn into our neighborhood?" I text him the address and he called back shortly and said "no." From the reviews I'd read, at this point they typically state they'll need to "shuttle" your stuff from the truck to the house. Additional fees would apply such as cost of shuttle, hotel for driver for night, extra labor etc. We did not want to pay anything else to this company, so I arranged to meet the driver at a parking lot near our house and he agreed to unload our stuff into a uhaul I rented and we'd take it from there. 5) The driver showed up alone. He started moving stuff by himself and then my husband watched him walk over to a gas station next to the parking lot and offer money to random strangers to assist with the move. We had wondered why he was asking for the final payment in cash as opposed to zelle and there was our answer. We were luckier than most and had called on friends to help us move the stuff from the uhaul to our house, so instead they went to the semi and unloaded that while the driver folded up the furniture pads. So in summary we paid over $4,200 to have MOST of our stuff driven to NC and ALMOST delivered to our house. Learn from us and DON'T HIRE this company.
